war story
As the ringing faded I started to turn only to see John laid out on the floor. I knelt down in fear and in panic. My helmet had hit the floor, John’s chest was covered in the dark red and steam was slowly rising in the air. As I stayed low hoping that was the last of the shots, more and more started to pass by almost like a jet noise. My heart was raceing and all I could seem to think about is my friends and family back home. As the guns shots started to fade into the distance reality hit me like a brick straight to the face, I might not make it home to see them again. I knew now was not the time to feel regret but its all I could feel the coldness made my whole body feel brittle and numb. All the un said things I never even had the chance to tell my mother I love her and now I’m laying here next to John praying that all of this was gone.
